Walk on water
Walk on water, has been a great song from Milk Inc., but I guess we are unfortunately not able to. But there is nothing wrong with giving it go ;-)!
There is a place not too far from my home where I feel the very old authentic energy of nature. That place is Postel – Mol for me. It is well known for its abbey, where they produce its own beer, cheese, and herbs. It is still run by the priests.
Unlike many others, I don’t go there for its beer or other delicacies. For sure it is nice, but it is a place full of great nature as well. One of the pictures I took shows, a dragonfly. She was teasing me and gave me the opportunity to take a good sharp, colorful image. Thank you!
Natuurpunt Vlaanderen made some changes to this place in the last years. In the past, many trees were planted to help provide wood for the stone coal mines. Because of a little insect that infects the trees, the trees slowly started disappearing. which is painful to see! You can still see the trails from the wild pigs and deer in the sand. Sometimes it is even possible to see one just in front of you! It always brings a magical feeling into that moment!
With many trees going down it makes this gigantic place one big open spot. You can feel that the animals don’t really know what is going on. Natuurpunt Vlaanderen wants to bring Postel back to its origin. It means it will all get back to heathland. They work hard to bring some new walking trails into these open moor with puddles.
These are some pictures I took from a late evening walk! I loved the silence but on the other hand, I loved the lively nature around me. For me, there is nothing more beautiful than to receive this energy around me and be able to capture some of these fantastic moments.
You see the organization built a trail of wood over the puddles. It makes you able to walk on water, or so it kind of looks like :-).
They say the outside is free and I have to admit for me it is! Getting the energy and the vitamins from the sun is enough to feel energized and grateful for the life you have. Riding to Postel with my Italian Vespa brings a smile to my face, which I cannot describe. Enjoy your walks and capture the nature you see around you!
