The Journey from Speed to Stillness

Although I live in Mol, Belgium, I feel most at home where the pavement ends. Whether I’m driving my Land Rover Defender along a remote trail or riding my Harley-Davidson on an open road, I’m a photographer driven by a single pursuit: finding light in the dark.

My story did not begin in this silence, though. For over a decade, I lived in the high-octane blur of international motorsports. I spent my days chasing bikes and cars at 300 km/h, surrounded by the roar of engines and the smell of burnt fuel. It was exhilarating, but also deafeningly loud. Eventually, I realised that, in my rush to capture the fastest moments, I had stopped truly seeing.

The Fire of the Track

For years, my world was built on roar and dust. Since 2007, I lived at the edge of the track, documenting the absolute limits of human will. To me, sports photography was never merely about the machines; it was about the spirit required to master them.

I was there to witness the ultimate—the raw energy of seeing a person become a World Champion. I stood in the heat of that fire with legends like Valentino Rossi, Stefan Everts, Antonio Cairoli, and Jeffrey Herlings. I captured the gravity-defying fire of Danny Hart, the unbreakable resilience of Ken Roczen, and the clinical, relentless perfection of Nino Schurter. Documenting these icons for KTM Red Bull, Suzuki, and Honda was my training ground. I learned to recognise the light of a champion before they ever crossed the finish line.

The alchemy of the darkroom

Digital captures what the eye sees, but film captures what the soul feels. For me, the journey doesn’t end when I click the shutter; that is only the beginning. My way is one of slow, deliberate intention. I have traded the instant world for the meditative ritual of the Darkroom.

This is my alchemy. I develop every roll of film myself in my laboratory, working in the quiet intimacy of the shadows. There is a sacredness in the waiting—the smell of the chemistry, the texture of the silver, and the moment the image slowly emerges from the depths of the developer. It is a transition from the invisible to the visible, much like the work I do in the healing room.

I ensure that the energy of the moment is preserved in the grain. For me, this process is a form of therapy; it strips away the noise and brings me back to the basics. It is where the journey is distilled into its purest form. It is where it becomes Art.

The Profound Light

  • A State of Being

My journey is not about reaching a destination; it is about embracing the present moment. I am moving forward with a deeper commitment—investing in the timeless precision of Leica and allowing the stories I am meant to tell to unfold slowly. I am chasing a profound light. This light does not merely sit on the surface; it is the glow of human will, the spirit of the land, and the hidden truth within the grain.

This light is waiting for me in the rolls of film yet to be loaded and the quiet moments yet to be experienced. I am stepping further into the shadows to find the brilliance that emerges only when one slows down enough to listen.

  • The Promise

The film yet to come is my promise to the world: a promise to continue seeking the sacred light within every soul. I am no longer merely capturing moments; I am creating a legacy. This is where the journey becomes visible.

  • The Journal

The Journal is my raw record of the light I discover in the dark corners of the world. It is a collection of stories, silver, and spirit—a place where track champions meet road souls. It is the archive of my arrivals.

“I show the entirety of this walk in my Journal.”
