Great to start

This stunning image, captured with the legendary Hasselblad camera, exudes a sense of nostalgia and captivating charm. It artfully showcases the enchanting scenery of France’s west coast, particularly the picturesque town of Fécamp. Witnessing the sunset was nothing short of magical as it enveloped the landscape in a warm, golden glow. This mesmerizing spectacle creates an unforgettable moment, lingering in the heart and mind long after the sun has sunk below the horizon.

The text:

“You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.”

Meaning:

“You don’t have to be great to start . . .” Everyone aspires to greatness; no one dreams of settling for mediocrity. It’s exhilarating to picture yourself achieving your goals, surrounded by friends and family, and celebrating your triumphs. Yet, it can be daunting to confront the reality that reaching those dreams may require months, years, or even decades of dedication. This fear often holds people back from taking that crucial first step, as they worry too much about how they may appear along the way. They desire to save money but hesitate to let friends see them driving a ten-year-old car. They want to get fit, but the thought of strangers witnessing their struggles while attempting to run a mile feels overwhelming.

” . . . but you have to start to be great.” The truth is simple: if you never start, you will never finish. For those unwilling to venture beyond their comfort zones and take decisive action toward their dreams, stagnation is guaranteed. Many never achieve greatness because they never dare to begin. Take my blog, for instance. Some of my posts may not be my best work, but I’ll never grow unless I commit to writing every day. One day, I hope to hear people say, “John Garvens is a great writer.” But that day hasn’t arrived yet, so I will continue to write relentlessly. Embrace the idea that it’s perfectly fine to stumble on your first attempt. This acceptance offers you the freedom to explore and try new things with an open heart. The most vital lesson to remember is that you have to take that first step. So, just begin and savor the journey. You never know where it might lead you.
