My first bike pack trip

My first ever bike packing trip would start on 01/04… yep no April fool for me ;-). I did plan my ride with komoot to have as much off-road, gravel as possible. I have been riding for years on asphalt, but this doesn’t make me happy…

My departing point would be Mol, home place. It would be a 110 km ride till I reach Banneux. It is one magical place where Mother Marie has been spotted. Having my complete bike packed with everything (to make food and sleep, and spare clothes) wasn’t the easiest task, but I managed.

I have my complete trip in the pictures below

Riding in the backyard of the historical place of Tongeren was one beautiful ride. Having 800 meters of elevation made it together with my bike pack materials one physically demanding effort. As I knew there was also a need to get back home ;-).

Reaching my camping place and being able to sleep next to the river (the Amblève) made the pain in the legs worth it. I did spend a good 5 hours on the bike and loved every second. Getting back to the base of life next to the river does you reflect on this.

It makes you humble. We have a lot what we really don’t need…

After spending a great night, I was able to reach home with a 240km ride. One ride to remember and for sure more to come.
