Already at the start of my new chapter in photography, I was torn between two cameras. Without a question, I wanted to work with Leica. However, Leica has two systems. The Leica M-series with rangefinder and the Leica SL system with regular automatic focus.

I began my second voyage in photography with the Leica M series about a year ago. I adore the cameras and already own two of them.

The Leica M Monochrome shoots solely in black and white! The second color camera is the Leica M10. I adore the accompanying antique photos. When I photograph with it, there is always a soul in the images.

Many times, I questioned if I needed an extra camera to photograph in the field with greater ISO and more frames per second. I needed to go to the Leica SL for that. After months of searching, I finally discovered it second-hand and acquired my fourth Leica camera. I welcomed the new Leica SL into the group. Faces of joy…

It is critical for me to feel the camera and how it reacts. It was evident from the minute I put the camera in my hands that it felt a little heavier.
It was larger in the hands, with more buttons and displays to observe. The viewfinder, on the other hand, was lovely to look at and provided a good view of what to capture.

When do you know you’ve purchased something you’re happy with? It can only be done by utilizing it.

Here are the first photographs from the Dutch woodland. When I first start working with the Leica SL, I notice how quickly the shutter reacts when capturing photographs. The camera shoots 10 frames per second, which is far faster than the M-cameras I use.

The M cameras seem so real, and when you press the shutter on the Leica M, you feel like you’ve stepped back in time, and it’s all about capturing that moment. With 3 frames per second, the camera is not an example of high speed.

I wanted to test it further, so I decided to use the Leica SL as a street photographer camera, similar to how I use the Leica M. My hometown was the location of the choice.

I’m using my Leica M-lenses with an adapter on the Leica SL camera. As a consequence, when we look at the photographs, we should get the same outcome.

However, seeing the photographs does not provide me with the same results as using my Leica M camera. The photos from the M-series are more saturated. It’s simply more lively.

I wanted to experiment more and use the camera at a nature park.

I’m still not persuaded of its utility. When I initially started working with them, my Leica M was a thrill. The handbook for the Leica SL is similar, although it is far less simple in my opinion. Nonetheless, the Leica SL is far less complicated than other manufacturers in terms of the number of buttons.

In the next few days, I hope to learn more about the camera and find new horizons.
