Bouillon part two

The heart of the Ardennes is located in the complete south of Belgium, they told me. I spend my night in the south of Belgium. It was a very short night as I didn’t sleep a lot. The plan was to search for the heart of the Ardennes in the morning.

But; already the morning gave me a superb view. I couldn’t resist taking these pictures!

I cleaned my camping gear and made my bike ready to get back on the roads. I wanted to ride direction Houffalize. Only a few kilometers from my sleeping place I had the opportunity to shoot inspiring views.

Happy with the pictures I shot, I continued my road to Saint Hubert. Riding on the roads of Bouillon for some time, I needed to stop to take the next photos. I do understand why they called it the heart of the Ardennes. I think the image tells it all.

It is a breathtaking view no doubt about that. It just brings me with two feet to the ground. It does make you realize again what planet earth has to offer for us. It already made my day and there was still a long trip to go!

After some kilometers, I arrived in the city of Saint Hubert. I still remember the place from my childhood. I came to Saint Hubert to watch motocross races with my parents. It is still on my mind because of the very beautiful landscape. Passing the main road of Saint Hubert I saw that the motocross track still was there, but It wasn’t for riding anymore.

Entering the city I was surprised by its beauty. It felt very nostalgic and had a very big abbey in the middle of the town.

After this little visit, there was still 200km to ride. I made my way towards Houffalize and continued my ride to Durbuy. The smallest city of Belgium. A lot of tourists wanted to take the opportunity to be outside and enjoy the sunny weather. All the little restaurants were fully packed.

With the corona still in the world, I avoid very crowded places and just enjoy the landscapes. I wanted to be home on time and I just spend my time on my Italian Guzzi and made my way home.

I did a 270-kilometer trip of which I enjoyed every moment. The beautiful weather and pictures, which I really love, made my day. We just don’t always realize the beauty our country has to offer. When you can stand in the middle of the road and have such impressive views with buzzards circling above your head, makes me feel blessed to be here on earth.
