I was happy with the photos I took that evening, and I was ready to sleep with the sound of the waves in the background. However, someone attempted to take my motorcycle throughout the night, and then it proceeded to rain the entire night, decreasing my sleeping time to a bare minimum.

After a short shower, cleaning, and packing up my sleeping quarters, I was eager to hop on my bike and see more of the north of the Netherlands.

My voyage would take me to Scheveningen’s beach, then to Amsterdam, then to Gelderland, and finally to Zwolle in the Netherlands.

The first kilometer would run directly up to the north, very near to the North Sea. I’d be passing through a large area of flower fields in that direction.

When I initially arrived in this area, I was taken aback by the grandeur of the tulip fields. Massive meadows with breathtaking panoramic views showed why the area was dubbed “Europe’s Garden!” The photographs demonstrate its size!

Yes, I visited Keukenhof. Keukenhof is one of the world’s largest flower gardens, located in the Dutch municipality of Lisse.

I continued on my journey to Amsterdam, the Dutch capital. I did drive into Amsterdam city due to some GPS troubles, and I must tell that there was no anxiety because the bike moved smoothly and the people were really friendly. It made it simple for me to get back on track.

The scenery transformed from land to huge areas of the sea. On the water’s edge, houses and wooden boats were built. A stunning panorama. It’s unusual to be driving alongside the water at the same height, looking to your right, where the earth and homes are more than a meter below.

I came across Uitermeer Fort while driving through the Utrecht area. Some photos are included below…

Fort Uitermeer is a historic stronghold that was once part of the New Dutch Waterline and afterward the Amsterdam Defense Line.

The goal of the fort was to protect the land crossings between the Naardermeer and the Vecht. The two most important passages were the railway from Amsterdam to Amersfoort and the road from Hilversum to Weesp. Its cannon may also be useful to the nearby forts.

The view from the fortress was amazing. Several large water portions surrounded large flat grass fields with several bunkers to keep the region secure during World War II.

I work my way to my sleeping spot. I passed through Hilversum, a well-known city. (well-known to Dutch television broadcasting organizations) and arrived in Gelderland near Zwolle. The terrain has already transformed from large polder regions to more forested places with twisting roadways. This is without a doubt the region that every motorcycle enthusiast appreciates.

I arrived in Molnmarsch near my sleeping spot.

Mölnmarsch is an area of about 70 hectares. The region is made up of a freshly dug meander that extends the Vecht for roughly two kilometers and the surrounding nature. The water board has created a polder in this region for additional water storage. The Vecht was once a significant shipping route.

It would be the finale of a magnificent day spent exploring a large chunk of the Netherlands in all of its natural splendor. It doesn’t get any better than riding your Harley into the Garden of Europe!
