Back into the deep sand!

Taking MX pictures has always been a significant part of my photography practice. For it, I travelled for many years and was the shooter for many top riders and companies.

I recently bought Canon’s flagship, the Canon Mirrorless R3. I had some fresh lenses lying around the house. Without a doubt, I wished to put my materials to the test.

The renowned MXGP circuit of Lommel is one of the best places to go. My close friend Kevin Strijbos is the personal trainer for the Factory Kawasaki MXGP squad and informed me that he would be there. I packed my things and my beloved BMW R1250 GS Adventure and drove to the Lommel MX course.

When I arrived, many elite riders tried new materials on their motorcycles in preparation for the new season. In Argentina, the season will begin in less than two weeks. Here are some of the first images:

Getting a new mirrorless camera is fantastic, but I prefer to use it with vintage lenses. I used to use a lot the ancient Canon EF 180mm Telescopic lens. I believe the lens is 20 years old, but I adore the bouquet it produces.

I don’t use zoom lenses right now because I favour the clarity and excellence of prime lenses. I always used to use zoom lenses, but after switching to Leica, I began working with prime lenses and have never looked back.

It’s an obsession to have two vehicles. I began riding motocross at the age of 12. With a lengthy list of injuries, I retired from this amazing activity, but health comes first, and a broken back at the age of 16 wasn’t the best time. So I came to a halt.

But, as many people are aware, two wheels are contagious, and I continue to enjoy watching the sport and seeing the riders push their motorcycles to their boundaries while remaining fearless.

It is and will remain unique. I took advantage of an open afternoon to push the cameras to their extremes in the deep sand. I believe I can state that I was pleased with the outcome. Some of the world’s finest riders used the pictures for personal use.

A lot of heavy work or stressful days can be easily ignored if creativity comes and you can do your passion. It is never a terrible idea to spend some time with yourself to feel better!

I did today and ran into some old friends, which made my day!

Have fun with yours!
