The fundamentals of life cause time to pause.
The plan has always been to install a roof tent on the automobile and commune with nature. We were excited to try out the roof tent and go on some outdoor camping trips after it had been accomplished the week before. Our destination would be the Dutch North Sea shore, where we would camp in the wild. I’ve enjoyed numerous wilderness camping sites in the past. They are much smaller, and everything is made to fit into a beautiful atmosphere with minimal environmental effects.
Our camping getaway took place at Nature Camping, The Origin, which is located in Brouwershaven. Brouwershaven is a tiny city in the Dutch province of Zeeland located on the Grevelingen Lake. It is part of the municipality of Schouwen-Duiveland and is located around 45 kilometres southwest of Hellevoetsluis and 10 kilometres north of Zierikzee. Brouwershaven was an independent municipality until 1997 when it amalgamated with Schouwen-Duiveland.
It would be a 160-kilometre drive.
I was looking forward to this road trip since I like being around sailing boats and little harbours. To yet, the major goal has been to photograph these locations.
After our ride, we parked our car and put up our roof tent for the first time. We had to hurry since the sun was lowering, but the Polders made for a fantastic finale to the day.
We didn’t cook because we were exhausted and instead headed to the nearby harbour to get some fresh fish or supper.
We returned to our camping area after a delicious meal. It was a wonderful quiet neighbourhood with a welcoming ambiance. We walked by some local farms and got some fresh eggs to make some cooked eggs for brunch. I enjoy shopping organic and local.

The Origin stays on incredibly large camping grounds surrounded by ancient trees and wild nature for a green wonderland and a return to fundamentals. They provide a kind greeting and a quiet stay. Less than 2 km from the Grevelingenmeer, overlooking the quaint, traditional village of Brouwershaven.
We were excited to spend our first night in our beautiful tent.
With a nice restful night behind us, we were more than eager to begin our day. This was a great test to see how I might include this into my everyday work since I want more people to connect with nature and this is a great way to do so.
With some fresh coffee and prepared eggs, we began our trip towards some wildlife parts and the little town of Brouwershaven. Brouwershaven was created in 1285AD as a new harbour for Brijdorpe, however, the harbour has since silted up. The town was created as a fortified bastide and is said to be the first of its kind in the Netherlands.some images…
And what a beautiful town that was. The little cottages and narrow lanes transported you back in time. With a harbour full of sailing boats, it was also a lively small town in 2023.
We resumed our journey by driving into the natural reserve near Bruinisse. Bruinisse is located on the Grevelingenmeer, Europe’s largest saltwater lake and a sailing region with its distinct flora and wildlife. With water, a beach, the verdant Zeeland countryside, and lovely villages nearby.
Following the roads into the gorgeous polders of The Netherlands led us to various diving sites and amazing broad views.
We arrived in Bruinesse, a little fishing village, after admiring the scenery. I usually enjoy going to places like these since there is freshly caught fish on the dish. We walked inside a shop named Habraken Fish.
More information: The queues with regional fishermen are short due to its position in the Bruinisse fishing port. They have everything from mussels, oysters, and razor clams, to North Sea seafood and everything in between.
When the aroma of fresh fish reached our direction, we knew it couldn’t get much better. My wife got fresh kibbling while I ordered an eel sandwich. (kibbling: it’s fried fish, usually codfish)
What a fantastic weekend we had. We spent the late Saturday evening on the waterfront and slept at a nearby nature camping. We enjoyed the peaceful waters and scenic polders of the Netherlands. A day was filled with fresh farm and marine food.
I am grateful for these wonderful day’s because getting down to the fundamentals of life usually puts a grin on my face and less tension on the table.
Less is more; all we need to do in our hurried society is see the less. Time truly vanishes when yocanto embraces this moment.
Thank you
Het doet mij denken aan Renesse een prachtig stadje gelegen in Zeeland , prachtig is het daar .
