Our excursion to the Resund bridge in Sweden.
Our night in the woods went just as planned. One tranquil night, I was savouring the freshness of being outside. Waking up and opening the tent to a wide view of the nature reserve’s lake immediately put a grin on my face. What a fantastic way to start the day!
We agreed to see some additional things close to our area with some freshly brewed coffee. It was all you could hope for!
If you look at the photographs, you’ll realise that this is exactly what you read about in adventure tales. Being able to accomplish this was something I had hoped for, but being able to do so is something I will cherish.
My daughter advised me to visit one of Sweden’s most stunning natural beaches, near Malmö. It’d be Lomma Beach. The broad, sandy Lomme Beach is about a 20-minute drive from Malmö. It is close to the port and the fishing harbour. It is bordered by low, grassy dunes, as well as taverns, restaurants, and hotels.
We would take a little camping space to ensure a pleasant stay and a legal sleeping location. So we set out on a 120-kilometre journey along the coast as well as scenic back roads.
Even though it was a dreary morning, the celebration went on. After a few km, we were back on the first side of the water, which usually makes you dream away.
We halted briefly when we approached another natural reserve near the shore, where we took photos, spotted birds, and watched cows enjoy the green hills. I’d never seen an ocean scene like this before.
When you can see such a vast perspective in the purest environment, I must say that time stands still and helps you forget all your troubles.
We continued on our journey to Malmö. The interior routes assisted us in uncovering further beauty. When we got to Laholm, we passed a castle that had its cheese factory. Skottorps Castle is located in Halland, between Bstad and Laholm. The first major farm, which was a homesteader named Vika (now Veka), was documented as early as the 14th century, and there is evidence of an Axel Bang in Skotterup in 1488. Skottorps Castle may be the best-maintained Empire Castle in Sweden. On May 6, 1680, Karl XI married Ulrika Eleonora of Denmark here. The castle was initially erected in the 1670s by Frans Joel Örnestedt based on plans by Nicodemus Tessin d.ä. The castle is now a private house.
We were able to see them make cheese and even buy some. I must say that the flavour was fantastic. What a magnificent palace to behold. If you want to see more of it, go here to visit the website.
We still had some kilometres to go before we arrived at our objective, so we had to keep going. As I already stated, we drove with the gorgeous ocean scenery on our sides.
We arrived at Landskrona after some time spent driving with the sun on our faces. Landskrona is a town and the administrative centre of the municipality of the same name in the Swedish province of Skne län. The town is situated on the resund. The well-known bridge we built links Sweden and Denmark.
The distance to Copenhagen’s centre is 25 km. The citadel, the Landskrona museum, which houses local handicrafts, and the Landskrona konsthall for modern and contemporary art, which includes the Kaptensgrdens Sculpture Park are all worth seeing. The city also has Sweden’s first aircraft manufacturing. Some images:
After we visit the Citadel with its fascinating history, it would only take us 15 minutes to get to our resting site.
We arrived at our campsite at Lomma Beach. I had no idea it would be such a great location. It was a camping area right on the beach.
With just 17u in the afternoon and 25 degrees, it was the ideal time and place to grab our swimsuits and dive into the cool sea close to the pier. After our sim, we got a nice shower and went out for a great dinner. We travelled to Lomma harbour, which was pretty near to where we were staying.
The sun was sinking, signalling the end of a magnificent day. We sat on the dunes and watched the sunset. We got a great view of the famous Resund Bridge. This bridge connects Sweden and Denmark, which I crossed to go to the lovely Swedish countryside.
Some photographs from this unforgettable evening.
Seeing the sunset and being able to enjoy it with my lovely, intelligent daughter made it a memorable day.
I am proud of her dedication and determination in life. She studies Swedish, therefore she was a huge assistance to me on our trip because this language was often difficult for me to grasp.
Thank you for a day filled with miracles.
