When you come across deer on the icy countryside.

The Belgian countryside has been converted into a snowy sight in recent days. After many wet days, the cold arrived, and last Friday, more than 5 centimetres of new snow jammed the roads and traffic.

As a result of these meteorological conditions, the fast-paced world came to a halt. Nature, too, was converted into a completely another sight.

Mol, Postel Nature Park is one of my favourite spots close to my home. It would be a different planet with this white carpet. I went to Postels Nature Park to capture the breathtaking scenery.

A little lake was frozen, resulting in a beautiful panoramic view. I enjoyed how the grass sprang out of the frozen water. The following photographs are in black and white. Today’s photos were not taken with my favourite Leica cameras. It was my Canon Eos D1X that would feel the cold.

But it would be a different scenario this time…
At this point, it would not be the scenery that would steal my breath away. No, it was the wildlife that welcomed me and showed me around.

They welcomed me and accepted me into their world. I tracked them down and traced their paths through the snow and forests. It was odd since I was joined by Bliss, my Australian Shepherd. She has a lot to learn yet being just four months old. It was a strange moment. With only a 180mm lens in my hands, I needed to get close to what was happening to capture everything.
When I went too close to a deer while hiking with my Golden Retriever, it vanished in a second. However, not this time. They just stood there watching, and my puppy dog did nothing to disturb the serenity.

As I watch this, it’s a memory I’ll cherish.

I come upon the sleeping area of wild boars while following the deer tracks. I didn’t see any, but I saw the work they accomplished beneath the tree—some photographs showing their point of view.

Bliss enjoyed bouncing her short legs in the deep snowy scenery, which made me smile. With a beautiful snowy environment, it just needed a quick walk to Postel Abbey to capture the moment.

We liked our trekking experience following the wildlife footpaths. The terrain seemed rather damp, so when the snow melts, it will not be a good spot to go for a trek in the coming weeks. However, every situation has its advantages.

My buddy enjoyed spending time together, and her eyes closed after 1 minute in the car.
I also enjoyed the time spent outside. Mother Earth generates magic in this world every day! Let’s do everything we can to keep her as healthy as possible. Even the tiniest deed can have a significant impact.

Thank you
