The Mont Blanc

As a mental coach, I work with a fantastic downhill rider. With two world titles already under his belt, it was one of his goals for 2022. The mountain bike world championships will be held at Les Gets, near the famous Mont Blanc, in the last week of August.

I had never attended a cycling world championship event as a photographer before, so I approached the UCI for permission, which they allowed, for which I am thankful. I had done a lot of press photography in racing before, but this was all new to me, and I was enthusiastic about it.

But first, there’s the scenery to admire. Les Gets is nestled in the center of the Alps, and the shuttle provides breathtaking views.

A breathtaking scene that I could capture for hours. The MTB race was there to catch in this gorgeous place. That was the motivation for my 900-kilometer journey. I’ve included a tiny gallery from the atmosphere below, but a larger gallery will be available later in the gallery link.

Certainly, mountain biking is popular in France. Some of the most significant Mountainbike disciples were riding on this terrain, and I must tell you that I saw some mind-blowing bikers.

Female and male e-Mtb cyclists compete, as does three-time world champion road cyclist Peter Sagan. The photographs from the world championships are shown below.

The E-Mtb race took place on a Friday morning, while the short track race took place the same evening. The greatest cross-country cyclists would go to battle in an intense race. A good mountain biking event offering a world title for both men and women to win.

But I was at Les Gets to see the Mountainbike downhill race. I appreciated how the racers put all they had on the line and went all out for it. It helped me capture some amazing action images, which I’ve included below.

It was the most spectacular bike race I had ever witnessed. 70000 spectators gathered to watch three French riders take the first three spots on the podium. The atmosphere was incredible, and it’s amazing to think that two wheels can bring this many people together.

I am glad for this opportunity. I was lucky to be able to catch such close racing and adrenaline rushes.

Get ready for some more racing!

Thank you
