The fire tower

I don’t want to start out too dramatic, as the fire tower is merely a location in the Netherlands and has nothing to do with the standard fire. Just a notion.

There are some excellent hiking routes right across the Belgian border in Reusel, The Netherlands. A large area of heather that has been very well maintained by a nature group and has a magnificent fauna and flora.

There are several sizes of hiking routes to choose from, and they all lead to various sizes of lakes and heathers. The hiking paths were still muddy; we’re approaching winter, and temperatures are hanging around 7, which is common for this time of year. The wind made it feel much colder in the open locations with panoramic views. There is no difficulty if you wear nice clothing.

With a very foggy sky, it wasn’t easy to capture some magnificent photos with the sun as the major star, but the scenery and company of my wife and dog made it a very enjoyable experience.

We went on a 12-kilometer hike, and with three Leica cameras in hand, we were able to snap some stunning images. Here are a few of the first photos I took:

In autumn, I adore the colors of nature. Every season, the various tints create a completely new scene. Happy that this progress never stops and that every time I take a photograph in nature, I discover something new.

We continued our journey till we reached the Belgian-Dutch border. Wires were made in the forest. The Wire, also known as the wire of death, was a 332 kilometer long wire barrier created by German occupiers of Belgium along the border between occupied Belgium and neutral Netherlands during World War I.

Yes, history in the heart of a forest takes you back in time. We were in the middle of our hiking adventure, so we had another 6 kilometers to go. During our walk, the sun worked hard to get her strength through the cloudy sky, and she succeeded. Some shots from the beautiful fields and surroundings.

As you can see, the position is close to Kroon Ven and is a perfect place to enjoy in the environment. We arrived at the fire tower after hiking for ten kilometers. The Fire Tower is the name of a pub and is located near the forest, the pub is also well known for the variety of beers it serves.

We couldn’t pass up a quick stop to explore what the bar had to offer.

After a nice dark beer, it was time to complete the remaining two kilometers. We finished our hike and had a great time! This is a wonderful hiking region where you can explore as long as you wish. You simply combine the nodes, and there is a lot of veracity.

We come back for sure!
