Postel by evening.

As you may have read in my past blog posts, I do have a special connection with Postel Abbey. There is a 10 km hiking trail that I love to explore from time to time. I enjoy the old energy that is still to discover, but I also love to watch the animals in their own habitat

I know there are still a lot of wild animals in the forest. In the evening, the chances to take a photo of these beautiful creatures are bigger, so I figured I would walk the trail by sundown in hopes of some beautiful pictures.

When you walk the trails at high speed, it is not possible to witness most things in the woods. I love to stop and watch how nature is doing its work. It gives me a great feeling to capture that moment. The pictures are taking with my Leica Monochrome, so it is only black and white. Nonetheless, I love the high contrast it brings to pictures like the one with the ant and the flowers

I continued my hike and enjoyed the energy around me. Having some little muddy conditions because of the heavy rainfall didn’t mess up the happiness. I also took some images from blackberry bushes coming alive.

The picture shows a hare sitting on the hiking trail. I was able to take a shot as the animal was pretty relaxed. It is fantastic to capture it in a photo and enjoy his presence. My hike continued while the hare disappeared into the potato fields.

Happy with the moments I already had, I was able to have some more luck. After some kilometers, I had the opportunity to watch some deer in the grass fields. There is always something magical when I see them. I have no zoom lens in my Leica materials. However, I tried everything to capture that amazing moment into a photograph.

The sun was coming down, and it made nature become a different environment. The pictures I took at this moment made my hike feel like a little fairy tale. I guess the images show it all. No words are needed to describe the experience I had in Postel.

Seeing this sunset and the sun flair on the water was superb. Having the frogs jump around and the waterbirds shout made me feel like one of them. I could not ask for more. Writing this blog and posting these images still reminds me of the beauty in front of us. I didn’t do any miracles, not at all. I just escaped for some hours from this hectic world and captured the beauty of Mother Earth. Standing still makes you see things you never expect.

The hike is nominated for “walk of the year” in Belgium. I believe it has all right to be. Below is the link to discover the trails so you could experience this incredible feeling yourself.
