Infecting another with the photographic virus.

I recently introduced someone to the world of photography. At my job, I work with a lot of highly sensitive people, and I know how essential creativity is in their life. Being creative allows the busy brain to relax and flow with pleasant energy. It does not have to be perfect. All you have to do is enjoy the moment.

My intention was take her to the Mol Rauw nature reserve and show her how I work and interpret things in nature through photography. The sun was going to set, and after having a nice day, the sunset would be stunning. We start our tour in Mol’s woodlands and go towards peaceful spots where I know there is a lot to watch in nature.

We are trekking synchrone with the water canal next to us. When entering the rear of the nature reserve I widness already wonderful sun flairing over the water which provides excellent images. I genuinely use the term wonderfull as for me the sunflair generates always something amazing. I hope you witness it in the photographs.

As I display the photographs as capture to her she is blown away by the impression the sun generates in the shot. Immediately I sense her really getting into the stuff she sees. She takes the time to capture natural moments, as I call them. For me, this is everything photography is about. See what is just in front of us and feel the moment. Taking the moment and putting it into the shot.

One very kind and famous photographer, Thorsten Overgaard, informed me. “Always were a camera,” as some times it does not always come back, and you never know what beauty is coming towards you.
A statement that I did not forget when I started my second life in photography and started to work with Leica. Taking the opportunity to capture and appreciate the moment.

I observed a swan with its two youngsters. It felt like she truly was posing and allowing us to shoot photographs of her feeding her children. I generated wonderful photos with even heart shaped photo’s. It genuinely affected my heart.

It is all in the details, and as I continued my trek, even the slightest element may be the biggest image.

The girl I introduced to photography was astounded by the amount of detail there was to capture right in front of us. A little trip a few kilometres from home led to an exquisite wildlife sanctuary, which she had no idea existed.

This in itself made me joyful. Seeing her transform from the most difficult time in her life to a smiling woman in just one evening of outdoor photographic sessions She spent her time photographing and connecting with the natural things surrounding her. It was the time of her life, and she loved every minute of it!

I’m grateful that I was able to inspire someone.

Thank you
