A white blanket covered Postel.
The countryside was covered in a white It is rare for the countryside in Belgium to be covered in a white blanket. However, when it does happen, I want to ensure that I capture the complete change in the forest’s appearance on camera. Today, I went to Postel, which is not far from my home, and my beloved Land Rover safely transported me there. I was not alone on the trip; my four-legged companion joined me. She loves the snow as much as I do and loves to spend time with it in the woods and forests.
The country’s floor is still frozen due to the recent cold weather, resulting in the snow covering the landscape without melting. Due to the recent rain showers, the land is still quite wet, which may affect your hiking route. The main focus of the search will be to follow the trails left by the animals. One of my first photos.
During our hike, it continued to snow and my Australian Shepherd, Bliss, appeared to relish every moment. She moved around in the forest and even played with some birds which came to greet her.
During my hike, I captured images of some birds which I would like to share with you.I recognised some of the birds, including the buzzard, robin, blackbird, and long-tailed tit.
I did not expect to encounter these birds so quickly, but I am pleased that I did. Even the robin came to sit next to us, and it felt like time stopped.
However, this was not the last thing I noticed. I attempted to continue my hike and discovered a deer nearby, but unfortunately, I was too late to capture any images of it. I was disappointed in myself, but that is how it is. I was confident that it would succeed at a later time.
Some pictures of the beautiful Postel Land and its appearance.
And then something happened. During my hike, I needed to navigate through the forest carefully. The trails were heavily snowed and it was difficult to see where I was hiking. A 7.5 kilometre walk tested my limits as my energy level was already below 10% of my capacity.
I crashed due to some icy spots and noticed that I had lost a lens on my way to the car. It must have fallen out of my vest during the crash. I was unable to return to my trails to see where it had been dropped due to the encroaching darkness. I have hiked through the swamp, so it is possible that the lens has been damaged by water.
The subsequent images made me forget the current situation. The female deer appeared with her fawn.
Observing the beautiful brown tan of the animals against the white snow is a magical experience. I feel fortunate to have witnessed it. I spent nearly three hours in the woods. I was fatigued, but my 4×4 and camera equipment, along with my dog, helped me recharge mentally.
Thank you to the animals, wildlife, and people I encountered on my hike through the forest.
Your presence made my day all the more memorable.
