Finding my mojo…
It has been some time since my last update, and I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your patience. The demands of my practice have kept me remarkably busy in recent months, leaving little time for my photography. Yet, this period of reflection has sparked a reevaluation of my artistic vision. As you may have gathered from my previous posts, I’ve been on an enriching journey of exploration, seeking the path that truly ignites my passion. I wholeheartedly believe that when passion fuels your work, extraordinary results are bound to follow. Thank you for accompanying me on this thrilling creative adventure!
The world of sports photography has always been a vital part of my artistic journey. Yet, I discovered that the thrill of capturing those fleeting moments didn’t always fulfill my deeper passion. Driven by a desire to elevate my craft, I decided to invest in advanced camera gear. For years, Canon’s robust equipment had been my trusted companion, performing reliably in the heat of the action.
Photography, for me, is a profound expression of passion, and I often find myself grappling with the complexities of electronic settings that can be overwhelming. I’ve come to understand that shooting at 30 frames per second isn’t what I seek; rather, I’m in pursuit of that singular, breathtaking shot that truly captures the essence of the moment. Recently, I embraced the challenge of experimenting with my Canon setup, specifically my 300mm and 180mm lenses. Here are some of the results from that exciting endeavor, showcasing the beauty and intensity of the sport.
The photos were captured at the exhilarating Rally of Bochelt. Although I could only attend for a short time, I must confess that I absolutely adore the rush of adrenaline that accompanies this thrilling sport.
Not long after, I received an exciting call from Spain, inviting me to photograph an international golf tournament. The LDET tournament unfolded in the picturesque setting of Postel, Belgium, and I had the privilege of capturing breathtaking images during the event.
I captured the entire event with my Canon camera gear, primarily using the remarkable Canon 300mm f/2.8 and the impressive 500mm f/4 lenses. While the images were stunningly sharp, the hefty weight of the equipment proved to be a real challenge during long shooting sessions, leaving my neck sore after a day of photography.
After this experience, I made the difficult decision to part ways with the Canon 500mm f/4. The physical strain was beginning to overshadow my passion for photography. More importantly, I realized that I was no longer enjoying my work. Though I took countless images, my heart truly lies with the Leica M cameras. The joy of manual settings combined with digital precision resonates deeply with me. Determined to reignite my creative spirit, I set out to the Baloise Cycling Tour, eager to push my photographic boundaries and see how far my passion could take me.
The professional cyclists flew past me in a blur of color and speed, their energy palpable against the backdrop of a brilliant 32-degree day. The sun cast its warm glow upon both myself and my cherished Leica M camera. With no autofocus to rely on and only three shots per second, it was the perfect challenge that ignited my creativity.
The riders responded with exuberance; their joy was infectious, and I felt it deeply as well. The hues rendered by my Leica are nothing short of breathtaking, always striking a chord in my heart. I revel in the simplicity of this camera, but what truly captivates me is the exceptional quality of the images it produces—each one a testament to my passion for photography.
In my craft, I strive to immerse myself fully, capturing the emotions that unfold in every shot. This connection fuels my artistry and drives me to create.
I genuinely hope you enjoy the images!
